Overview

Mission Community Church, located in Gilbert, AZ needed to raise a projected $1 million in building capital funding in less than 12 months.  Tipping Media was hired us to develop a creative capital fundraising strategy that would cast vision to the church community and provide the necessary tools and steps to get involved.

The Challenge

Lead Pastor, Mark Connelly, wanted to emphasize that this campaign was not about us and even less about a building – it was about tripling the church’s capacity to reach others for Christ.  Our task was to use creative ways to communicate with film, social media, print, branding, and environmental design to communicate that message and ultimate obtain buy-in from the church to raise the additional funds.

The second part of the project, after the building was completed, was to create a memorable campaign that would attract the surrounding community to the campus’ grand opening.

Communicating the Vision*

The Solution

Tipping Media worked with Mission to create a 4-week kick-off series that would communicate the vision and need for the campaign.  We used social media, web, video, print and environmental design to continue to emphasize the vision for the duration of the construction phase.

Grand opening was a related but separate campaign with the purpose of reaching the community and inviting them to be a part. The church partnered with a nonprofit group called charity: water and used that partnership to create a viral campaign.  The campaign’s message was, “For every person that joins us on our grand opening we will give 5 years of clean, safe drinking water to a person in need. All you have to do is show up.”

The above photo says it all – Mission’s grand opening was an incredible event with just over 5,000 in attendance (a 200% increase from a year prior)!

Since partnering with Mission we have seen the church attendance increase approximately 270%.  Website analytics indicate a more than 200% year-over-year increase in web visits.  Facebook traffic has increased over 2,500%.  Online giving/donation is well above national averages.  The church continues to learn how to manage the incredible growth experienced in a short period of time.
